I bought this and tool it to a locksmith, he programmed it by his km100, the entire process was really fast, now I have a new key and it is working pretty good on my car

I'm still new to key programming. This was my third. Ordering the key, I was unsure which chip set I needed, so I guessed A8. It worked, so I must have gotten it right enough. Programming the key, I refined everything down to two options, neither of which matched the original key closely, so I guessed again... several times. (again, it worked!) during programing the key to IMMO, there is a step that says to put the "learned smartkey" near the start button. after a few failures, I figured out that the key to put near the start button is the OE key, NOT the smartkey that I just generated. (terminology got me there). In the end, the key works, but the four button key only uses three buttons because of the guess I made earlier in the programming. I ran out of time before I could go back to add the tailgate function to the last button. Learning curve and all, the key worked for Toyota 2016 Rav4 HV with KM100. (I did send a query to tech support on a Friday afternoon and did not receive a reply- maybe they'll get back to me Monday, but I got it to work, so no harm.) Overall, all worked out and saved a serious amount of money compared to a dealer price. Thanks!!
